Wayne L. Benson

Wayne L. Benson, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI. He was born on February 12, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI to Henry and Esther (Lambrecht) Benson. He graduated from Bruce High School and proudly volunteered and served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. He received his certificate in accounting from the Technical School in Rice Lake after his discharge. He was married to Debra Klein in Rusk County and later divorced. He worked as a line foreman for the Soo Line Railroad Company. He enjoyed fishing, being outside in nature, going hiking, riding his motorcycle and taking his classic cars for a Sunday drive.

Wayne is survived by his children: Kurt (Missy) Benson-Allen and Rebecca (Aaron) Olson; 1 sister: Lynn Nuehring; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Esther; and his brother: William Schulpius.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 19, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at William Bechtel Villa Apartments Community Room, located at 1200 Baker Ave. Ladysmith, WI. Burial and military honors will be held at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family with arrangements.
