Wallace E. Rihn, age 87, passed away at his home in Bloomer on Monday, February 26, 2018. He was born on April 18, 1930 in Chippewa County to Fred and Margaret (Wirth) Rihn. He married Joyce Peterson on June 14, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. He worked as a dairy farmer...and he loved to work, still spreading manure and planting corn well into his 70s and 80s until his hands could no longer work the equipment. When he wasn’t farming, he loved being outdoors, spending countless hours on Upper Long Lake fishing and just sitting outside with a cold beer watching the hummingbirds. He also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, ice fishing, spending time with his family and chopping wood just for fun.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce of Bloomer; children: Mark (Janell) Rihn of Bloomer and Kathy (Joe) Hilger of Cornell; brother: Richard Rihn of Bloomer, sister: Marlene (Arnold) Windsor of Bloomer; in-laws: Angeline Rihn and Eileen Rihn; grandchildren: Justin, Kort and Karson Rihn, Eric, Mitch and Lucas Hilger; great-granddaughter: Lillian Rihn.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Margaret; siblings: Marie Tozer, Herman Rihn and Louis Rihn; sister in law: Deloris Rihn; brother-in-law: Bud Tozer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
