Obituary for Violet M. Muhlenbeck

Violet Mary “Vi” (Kuhn) Muhlenbeck, age 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, WI. She was born on October 11, 1927 in North Cape, WI: daughter of Charles and Frances (nee: Henger) Kuhn. Violet was a long-time resident of Union Grove, WI, until 2015 when she moved to Bloomer, WI to be closer to family.

On May 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Muhlenbeck at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They had 69 wonderful years of marriage and together they raised 3 children. She was an active member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Union Grove, WI for many years and recently became a member at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer, WI.

She devoted her time to the Catholic Church by volunteering, teaching First Communion and CCD. Violet was renowned for her amazing baking skills and will be forever remembered for her famous caramel frosting and her strawberry freezer jam. She was an avid card player and especially enjoyed beating everyone at “Nickels”. She cherished every moment spent with her family and grandkids who were her pride and joy.

Violet is survived by her husband Gene, her three children, James Muhlenbeck, of Colfax, WI, Kathleen (Michael) Seymour of Zimmerman, MN, Thomas (Jodine) Muhlenbeck of Bloomer, WI, her 5 grandchildren, Tammy (Travis) Solie, Katie (Raymond) Plummer, Marie (Jacob) Hessler, Alec Seymour, and Megan Seymour, 3 step-grandchildren Nick (Kattie) Bergeron, Luke Bergeron (Nikki Johnson), and Karissa (Kody) Steinmetz and 4 great-children, Hannah, Ellisyn, Isabel, and Lydia. She is also survived by one sister Marianne (Earl) Mortensen of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her “little buddies” Caleb and Jacob Scheidler.

Violet was proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances Kuhn, her brothers, John (Jenny) Kuhn, Joseph (Wilma) Kuhn, Charles (Nancy) Kuhl and her sisters Frances (Ernest) Kraak, Theresa (Elmer) Hansen, Madeline (Sonny) Muhlenbeck, Kathryn (John) Speigelhoff, Evelyn Squires, and Elizabeth (Wilfred) Bartel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at one o’clock on Friday, January 19 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer, WI, with a visitation ½ hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Eagleton Cemetery in Eagle Point, WI. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
