Viola Hilger

Viola Hilger, age 91, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born April 21, 1920 to Joseph and Mildred (Popple) Maurer in the town of Auburn. She married Elton Hilger on July 2, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer. She farmed with her family in the town of Woodmohr. Viola also worked at Nelson Filter and Chippewa County Health Care for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bloomer and Chippewa County Geological Society.

She is survived by her sons: Eugene Hilger of Denver CO. and Jerry Hilger of Bloomer; sisters: Norma Johnson of Sturgeon Bay WI. and Cathryn (John) Vogwill of Chicago IL.; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Elton; brother: Joseph Maurer; sister: Lorraine Hilger.

Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Bloomer on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Heather Brewer officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM at the United Methodist Church on Sunday August 7, 2011. Interment will take place at the Bloomer Cemetery following the service.
