Vernetta Schwartz

Vernetta A. Schwartz, age 74, passed away at Mayo Care Health System in Eau Claire on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born May 21, 1942 in Tilden to Arnold and Florence (Swoboda) Harings. She married John Schwartz on December 2, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. She worked for Nelson (Kuss) Filtration, Bloomer Bowl, Shaddick’s Price Rite and was an in home child-care provider. Vernetta was the happiest when she was around people. She enjoyed playing cards (especially sheepshead), four-wheeling, camping, listening to polka music, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband: John of Bloomer; children: Cindy (Joe) Poirier of New Auburn, Sandy (Joe) Adams of Tilden, Tammy (Dennis) Schemenauer of Bloomer, Pam (Kent) Schemenauer of Cornell, Barb (Todd) Warren of Bloomer and Mike (Heather) Schwartz of Bloomer; brothers: Bob (Kay) Harings of Chetek, Jim (Ginger) Harings of Chippewa Falls, Denny (Linda) Harings of Chippewa Falls and Joe Harings of Texas; sisters: Marilyn (Loren) Elkin of Port Edward and Ann (Jeff) Steinmetz of Bloomer; sister-in-law: Annette Harings of Georgia; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Florence Harings; one brother: Duane Harings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. The wake will be held on Sunday, February 5 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Christian Wake service at 6:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date. In honor of Vernetta’s love of sports, the family requests that you dress casually for the wake in your favorite sport’s team attire….preferably the Packers!
