Verlyn E. Waldofski, age 86, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls. He was born September 22, 1928 in Cadott to Fredrick and Flaval (Fortner) Waldofski. He married Arlene Zwiefelhofer on January 23, 1947 and together they made quite a team. Using lumber from their own land, they built a home on the family farm, living there until 2012. He and Arlene loved horses and going to horse pulls dancing, snowmobiling and fishing. Along with farming, Verlyn also worked as a foreman at Undersheetz Poultry Factory and hauled milk for Jim Falls Dairy. He was an avid hunter and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer and the National Horse Puller Association. When he and Arlene were not going to horse pulls or traveling in the United States and Canada, they were spending time with their children and grandchildren. Verlyn will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Arlene; four children: Julie (Lloyd) LaGesse, Bill (Joyce Hyde) Waldofski and Audrey (John) Shipman all of Bloomer, Randall (Sheila) Waldofski of New Auburn; one sister: Wilma Colby of Verndale MN; numerous grand and Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frederick and Flaval Waldofski and one infant sister: Carol Jean; great-grandson: Charles Homann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 on Monday October 20, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in the South Catholic Cemetery.
