Obituary for Thomas Kostner

Thomas N. Kostner, age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 surrounded by his family at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer. He was born June 23, 1938 in Bloomer to Bernard “Beanie” and Ione (Devenport) Kostner. He married his college sweetheart and the love of his life Patricia Ann McGrane on June 24, 1961 in Waverly Iowa. Tom was a prominent attorney at Kostner and Kostner in Bloomer. Tom served as the city attorney and the family court commissioner for many years and also ran EZ Travel with his wife Pat. Tom was a generous and gentle man and loved spending time with his family, with a contagious laugh. He loved traveling and enjoyed good food, especially sushi. He was a man of great faith, his knowledge and wisdom are instilled in his children and grandchildren and will live on for generations. He precious cats, Frankie, Daisy, and Zeke will miss him, as will his grand-dogs, Lucy, Maggie, Molly, Sophie, Remy, Rico, and Ruby, and grand-cat: Alfredo (houseguest). Tom was generous even after his passing, donating his organs to those in need.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia of Bloomer; four children: Jeffrey (Deborah) Kostner of Eleva, Kristen (David) Kimball of Lakewood CO, Paul (Michelle) Kostner of Bloomer and Stacia (Kevin) Sweeney of Jim Falls; one brother: Richard (Barb) Kostner of Bloomer; one sister: Patricia (Richard) Rank of Menomonie; eight grandchildren: Kelsey, Hannah, Jacob, Sidney, Madison, Josie, Riley, and Landon; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Beanie and Ione Kostner.
A Mass celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 5:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. There will be a visitation preceding the service on Monday at the church from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is in charge of arrangements. Please direct memorials to the Bloomer Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
