Obituary for Theodore Rihn

Theodore (Ted) Rihn, 88, passed away at the Luther Hospital CCU on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Ted was born on January 6, 1922 to William and Lela (Burke) Rihn in Bloomer, Wisconsin. He married Catherine Meinen on August 29, 1942 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Ted spent most of his life as a farmer and driving truck. When he had free time he loved to dance. If there was a polka song playing you knew where Ted was, out on the dance floor. He could not resist a rummage sale or auction, he was known to pull his truck over to the side of the road to see what treasures he could find. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Catherine of Bloomer, daughters: Judy (Fred) Henningfield of Burlington WI, Jean (Kenny) Swett of Waterford, WI, Nancy Millhouse of Minocqua, WI; son: Bill (Shirley) Rihn of Bloomer, brother: Paul Rihn of Bloomer; sisters Evelyn of
Rich of Dixon, IL and Mae Koch of Bloomer,13 grandchildren. 15 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends

He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Larry Rihn; brother Robert Rihn, sister: Elizabeth Zibell, many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Pastor Bruce Rimmereid officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday. Interment will take place at the Bloomer Cemetery following the service. Lunch will be served at St. John’s Lutheran Church following the committal.
