Steven J. Thein

Steven J. Thein, age 74, passed away at his home under the care of St. Croix Hospice on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

He was born on October 1, 1950, in Eureka, California to Edward and Ruth (Frank) Thein. Starting at the age of 24, Steven worked on high line poles for Superior Electric and Micheals Electric, eventually working his way up to a superintendent in 2000. Steve met Coral Bronstad in 1995 and on October 4, 2003, they were married in New Auburn, Wisconsin. He loved riding on his Harley, fishing, and camping out under the stars. Steve had numerous health challenges at the end of his life but he never let it define him. He faced each day with grit, resilience and an unwavering spirit.

Steve will be deeply missed by his wife: Coral; children: Chris Thein, Cassie Schmalz, Chelsie Thein, Michael Homme, Missy Homme, James (Jodie) Seemann; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters: Janis Thein, Sherry Thein and Sandra (Jim) Schmidt; extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Kurt Thein; and brother in-law: Clifford Bronstad.

The family would like to thank Ray and Joe Zeman; Jeff and Jackie Patz; Portia and Kevin Haugestuen; Ron and Gloria Jensen; our children: Chris, Mike, Missy, and James; St. Croix Hospice, especially Leona - for all their loving care shown to Steve.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Olson Funeral Home, 1516 Larson Street, Bloomer, WI.
