Scott T. Powell

Scott Thomas Powell, age 49, of New Auburn, was called to his eternal home on March 24, 2026.

Scott was born on July 4, 1976, in Bloomer, WI to Everett “Tom” and Rose Marie (Nimtz) Powell. He was one of five bi-centennial babies born in Chippewa County. He was a firecracker then and all the rest of his life. He was always giving his sisters a hard time but if they ever needed something, he was right there for them and his children and grandchildren.

Scott graduated from New Auburn with the class of 1995. He was married to April Wilson and together they raised Cole and Alyssa. They later divorced but remained very good friends to help their children grow to fine adults.

He wasn't farmer material but still wanted to be out in the open air. He took up trucking and working for others. Later he owned his own truck and did this for 25 years. Scott saw a lot of country, took a lot of pictures and made many friends. He enjoyed camping snowmobiling and cutting wood and hunting with his dad. He loved spending time and cooking for his family and friends. Scott was so proud of Alyssa, Cole, Levi and Teddy, they were the love of his life. He was a loving son that was his mother’s strength this past year when his dad passed away.

Scott is survived by his mother: Rose Marie Powell; son: Cole (Sam) Powell; daughter: Alyssa (Kadan) Braebec; grandsons: Levi Scott and “Teddy” Theodore Alan; sisters: Brenda (Randy) Bowe, Lisa Foster, Julie Powell and Amy (Bryan) Vanis; best friend: April; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Everett “Tom” Powell in June 2025; maternal grandparents: Eckhardt and Bernadette Nimtz; paternal grandparents: Edward and Ida Powell; uncle: Tim Blum; and cousins: Joni and Joseph Blum.

A Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Burial will be at the Bloomer Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow from 2:00–5:00 PM, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Chetek Lanes for a time of sharing stories, memories and laughter.
