Obituary for Sally Susan Skroch (Skroch)

Sally Skroch, 88, joined her beloved daughter, Susan, in eternal rest following a full life filled with family and faith on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer.
She was born on February 16, 1920, in Independence WI to Matthew and Helen (Kuka) Skroch. A graduate of Independence High School, Sally was a cheerleader and avid swimmer, After high school, she attended one year of nursing school at St. Mary’s in LaCrosse, followed by one year as a home economics major at Stout University in Menomonie.
She married Adrian Skroch in 1942 in Independence while he was on furlough from the US Navy during WWII. Following the war, the couple lived in Eau Claire for five years before moving to Bloomer where they settled to raise their family.
Beyond her duties as a mother and housewife, Sally was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Parish. She also enjoyed golf, bridge, gardening, needlework and countless family activities. She supplemented the family income by coloring black and white aerial photographs of farm properties. Her identity was also shaped by special cooking and baking skills �" noteworthy are bread, buns, dumplings and lefsa. She had a special touch with pets, and loved to christen her dinner with a glass of Zinfandel. Her family will always remember her deep love and support.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Adrian, of Bloomer. Other immediate family members include one son, Andrew (Effie) Skroch of Phoenix AZ and one daughter, Jane (Cliff) Bowers of DePere WI. She was preceded in death by her daughters Susan (Thomas) Mohr in 2004 and Barbara Skroch in 1957.
Other surviving family members include grandchildren: Matthew Skroch, Adam (Rebecca) Mohr, Kevin (Kaite) Mohr, Katie (John Henry) Mohr, Mary Mohr, Sam Bowers and Margaret Bowers. Great grandchildren are Adrian & Amaia Mohr, children of Adam & Rebecca.
Sally has two surviving siblings: Joan (Glen) Duncan and John (Letha) Grutzik. She was preceded in death by one brother: Pete (Norma) Skroch and sisters: Martha (John) Murphy, Mary (John) Kroner and Ann Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Interment will be in the North Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 �" 8:00 on Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 PM and a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM.
