Ruth V. Marquardt (Klund)

Ruth V. Marquardt, age 93, passed away Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Our House Memory Care in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1924 in Bloomer, Wisconsin to Edward and Ethel (Dahlby) Klund. She married Vernon Berg on July 28, 1945 in Bloomer. After his death, she married Mervin Marquardt on October 1, 1977 in Bloomer. Ruth was an active member, past president and secretary of the GFWC Bloomer Woman’s Club. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Altar Guild. She was instrumental in the building of the St. John’s Apartments and served on the board for several years. She enjoyed dancing, roller skating, cooking, sewing traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband: Mervin of Eau Claire; sons: Kevin (Sharon) Berg of Big Lake AK, Gary (Lois) Berg of Blackhawk CA, Kyle (Linda) Berg of Lake Hallie WI; daughters: Claudia (Terry) Culp of Henderson NV and Kristle (Mike) Lotzer of Wasilla AK; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Ethel Klund; her first husband: Vernon Berg; daughter: Kathy Goettl; brothers: Eugene, Harold and Kenneth Klund; sister: Vivian Ferstenou.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. There will be a visitation from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery.
