Obituary for Russell Jones

Auburn Russell Jones, age 73, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. He was born July 23, 1940 in Windom MN to Ward and Myva (Olson) Jones. He married Viola Krostag on July 31, 1971 in Eau Claire. He served in The US Army and worked as a self-employed carpenter for 50 years. He was the founder of J & F Construction in New Auburn and was the owner/operator of New Auburn Builders, Inc. Russell truly enjoyed his job and was known as an accomplished “Agri-builder”. He not only created and built things for the farm industry, but made beautiful furniture and other items in his workshop, where he spent much of his time. He also enjoyed deer hunting, giving his grandchildren rides on his John Deere Gator and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Vi of New Auburn; two sons: Erick (Lori) Jones of De Pere WI and Nicholas (Robin) Jones of New Auburn; two brothers: Thomas (Linda) Jones of Sandpoint ID and Richard (Patti) Jones of Chetek; six sisters: Rosemary (Bob) Rees of Sauk City WI, Shirley Davis of Barron, Marilyn (Owen) Ingbritson of Windom MN, Janice (Dale) Jones of Sebeka MN, Joyce (Raymond) Hector of St. James MN and Dawn (Richard) Gisch of Mountain Lake MN; 3 grandsons: Sawyer, Keaton and Quinn; two step-granddaughters: Hannah and Allison; numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ward and Myva; one brother: Dennis Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Judes Church in New Auburn with David W. Olson officiating. Interment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 on Tuesday at the Olson Funeral Home in Boomer and one hour prior to services at St. Judes on Wednesday.
