Rodney L. Gunn

Rodney L. Gunn, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Eau Claire, WI surrounded by his loving family.

Rodney was born on June 27, 1945, at home in New Auburn to Melvin and Marguerite (Metcalf) Gunn. He honorably served his country in the US Army. On December 27, 1989, Rodney married JoAnne Owens in Texas. He worked as a contractor, mason and could build anything to perfection. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing with grandkids, gardening, baking, especially pies and Christmas Rosettes, canning jellies and making maple syrup.

Rodney is survived by his wife: JoAnne Gunn of New Auburn; children: Penny (Eric) Eslinger of Cadott, Jodi (Dean) Griffith of Cumberland, Gerald Gunn (Jodi Pinnow) of Lake Hallie, Kelly Williams of Chippewa Falls, and Jakki (Dan) Michlig of Chippewa Falls; siblings: Clayton Gunn, Lowell “Joe” Gunn and Beverly Janota; 15 grandchildren: Zach, Delaney, Dale, Dwight, Drew, Brandi, Beaumont, Jared, Brennen, Aubrey, Sam, Kiana, Leah and Brooke; 9 great-grandchildren: Brielle, Gracyn, Macilyn, Enzley, Waylon, Luke, Aurora, Kahlei and Grayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Marguerite Gunn; siblings: Wadena Maddox and Keith Gunn; grandson: Rome Gunn; and son-in-law: Ben Williams.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Freedom Community Church in New Auburn. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the New Auburn Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the New Auburn American Legion.
