Obituary for Robert "Bob" Turner

Our Heavenly Father has given us a new guardian angel, calling our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother Robert (Bob) H. Turner (age 81) to his side. Granting him eternal life Saturday, December 30th surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years and family in the comfort of his home.

Born June 23, 1936 to Allen (Crow) and Viola (Hepfler) Turner in Bloomer, he attended St. Paul's Catholic School and Bloomer High School. He was a football letter winner and homecoming king. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Bowe, in high school and quickly was sweeping her off her feet dancing at the Pines Ballroom. He was called to duty and joined the United States Army, spending time at Fort Benning, Georgia. Bob and Dorothy were married July 9, 1957 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden. They bought their first home shortly thereafter, and started to grow their beautiful family. They lived in the city for many years, before buying a home in the country. He loved gardening and being outside and took great pride, and spent countless hours, tending to his yard and property. He loved cutting wood, kept a meticulous workshop, and watching a good western film.

Bob was a skilled carpenter, and his impeccable work and building accomplishments can be found all around the Bloomer area. He worked for MidAmerica Dairy, UBC, a union carpenter Local #1074, a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and Bloomer American Legion/VFW. His dedication to his craft was apparent in everything he built and was called on often to take care of building projects and odd jobs.

He could always be found with a furry companion by his side and loved his dogs. Bud was laying on his lap during his final hours, keeping him company until the very end. His special pals that preceded him include Shannon, Precious, Bear, Dixie, and Coco.

Bob loved many things in life, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was so proud of them and loved sharing with everyone about the many things that the kids were doing. He was a great storyteller and could visit with anyone he met. You never had to wonder what Bob was thinking, and he was certainly one of a kind. But his bark was worse than his bite and deep down he was a soft, sensitive, and caring man that impacted so many throughout his life.

Bob was survived by his beautiful wife Dorothy; children: Randy (Rat) and Jean Turner, Rod and Kellie Turner, Robby and Missy Turner, and Rachelle and John Nitz; sister: Janice Hetzel;
