Robert J. LeCleir, was born on January 11, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, WI to August and Mary (Agnew) LeCleir. He died on March 14, 2024 at Mayo Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, at the age of 89.
He graduated from McDonell High School, Class of 1952. Bob honorably served in the US Army from 1955-1957. He married Wanda Nyhus on August 2, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eagleton, WI.
Bob retired from the Chippewa Falls Fire Department in 1987 after 22 years of service and dedication. He also worked part-time for Kenny Loew Excavating and Pevan Transfer. Earlier in life, he and his brother John had a DX gas station, then Bob had a coin-operated music and game machine route. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, and a charter member of the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department Reserve Officers Corps. Bob was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, camping in Chetek, casinos, beer, music, dancing and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife: Wanda LeCleir; and sons: Daniel, Kent (Sandy Koch), and Reid (Marcia) LeCleir; grandsons: Logan and Adam LeCleir; brothers: William-Bob’s twin (Beverly) LeCleir, Thomas (Anita) LeCleir and David LeCleir; in-laws: Lucianne LeCleir, Violet Nyhus, Jim and Rogene Cardinal, and Ron and Jan Nyhus.
He was preceded in death by his parents: August and Mary LeCleir; brothers: John and Steve LeCleir; and sister-in-law: Judy LeCleir.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
