Obituary for Robert N. "Beaver" Lawry

Robert N. “Beaver” Lawry, age 71, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Black River Memorial Hospital. He was born May 8, 1940 in Oregon WI to Arthur and Thelma (Otis) Lawry. He married his first wife, Karen Campbell and that union produced three children: Dennis, Christine and Scott. After graduating from high school, he worked a few jobs before landing a job at Oscar Mayer where he spent the next thirty plus years. After retiring from Oscar Mayer, he worked for Rolling Meadows in Oregon WI. He moved to Black River Falls with his current wife, Julie (Hughes), whom he married on August 27, 1994. He was a member of the Oregon Masonic Lodge and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oregon. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, going to the Casino, playing poker and gardening. His biggest joy however, was spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife: Julie of Black River Falls; three children: Dennis Lawry of Alabama, Christine (John) Vroman of Cottage Grove WI and Scott Lawry of Evansville WI; Julie’s son: Dave (Theresa) Hughes of New Auburn; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sisters: Eleanor (Donald) Schultz and Carol Mahnke; brother: Raymond (Donna) Lawry; sisters-in-law: Emma Lawry, Roxanne Gravunder and Patricia Gravunder; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: William “Bud” Lawry; sister: Deloris Gross; brothers-in-law: Francis “Hank” Gross, Parker Mahnke, Dale Gravunder and Wade Gravunder; mother and father-in-law: Herbert and Orpha Gravunder.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Rev. Wayne North officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the Town of Bloomer, Chippewa County. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Tuesday and up to the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. A time of celebration will be held at the Airport Lounge in Black River Falls on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
