Robert W. Donaldson

Robert W. Donaldson, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Oakwood Villa in Eau Claire. He was born August 31, 1931 in Eau Claire to Louis & Mildred (Menard) Donaldson. He married Liala Dahl on September 24, 1955 in Sand Creek. Robert served in the US Marine Corps on the front line during the Korean War. He was an over the road truck driver, owning and operating his own truck and was an excellent mechanic. He enjoyed camping, going to Apache Junction, playing cards and an occasional trip to the casino. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Liala of Eau Claire; daughters: Kris (Donald) Hughes of Chippewa Falls, Ruth Ann (Mark) Steinmetz of New Richmond and Sheila (Allan) Ludwikowski of Ames, Iowa; brothers: James (Donna) Donaldson of Bloomer, Chuck (Marlene) Donaldson of Apache Junction AZ, Chuck (Mary) Angell of Lanchaster CA, Russell Angell of Eau Claire; sisters: Rosella (Swede) Dalhoe of Bloomer, Carolyn Meider of Apache Junction AZ and Sandra Angell-Baker of Apache Junction AZ; 8 grandchildren and 14+ great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Mildred Donaldson; one daughter: Deborah Lynn Donaldson; brother: Elwood; sisters: Elenere, Hazel, Mary and Kathy.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Olson Funeral home in Bloomer with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Popple Creek Cemetery. Military rights will be performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW.
