Ramona A. “Kitty” Mowry, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer. She was born March 27, 1920 in Bloomer to Henry and Hulda (Meyer) Schimmel. She married Elmer Mowry on October 21, 1943 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Together they operated the family farm in the Town of Woodmohr. In later years she worked as a housekeeper and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening and crocheting. Her love and compassion for cats is where she earned her nickname, “Kitty”.
She is survived by nieces and nephew: Bonnie (James) Karvonen of Cudahy WI, Judy (John) Jessup of Cudahy WI, Nancy Soley of Eau Claire and Larry (Judy) Schemmel) Mowry of Cornell; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Elmer; sisters: Lorraine Pietz, Leona Sohier, Arvilla Haug, and Eleanor Schimmel in infancy; brothers: Gerald and Arthur Schimmel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Olson Funeral Home at 1516 Larson St. in Bloomer with Pastor Martin Halom of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com
