Obituary for Ralph Huget

Pastor Ralph Huget passed away in Arizona on December 13, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada on August 3, 1936 to Emma and Rudolf Huget. He moved to Oconto WI at the age of eight and became a naturalized citizen. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1954 and continued his education at Capital University in Columbus OH. In 1958, he went to seminary at ELTS. He took an internship after the first year of school and met a millionaire who invited him to take a year off to drive him around the United States. The man had suffered from a stroke, so Ralph was his care taker. It was a year of operas, plays, and wonderful food; neither money nor time mattered. He came back to finish school and met Jacquelyn Quimby, 6 years his junior. He stretched out his requirements while Jackie accelerated hers so they could graduate together. They married on July 21, 1962. Ralph served at St. Paul’s Congregation in Coldwater OH where Heather and Brian were born. He then served at St. John’s in Rocky Ridge OH, followed by callings at Zion and Emanuel congregations in Tigerton WI. He retired from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer in 1998 after helping in the construction of the St. John Apartments. He moved with Jackie to Arizona as snow birds in 1999 and have lived there full time since 2006.

He is survived by his wife: Jacquelyn; son: Brian (Denise) and step-grandson: Ian; grandchildren: Alexandra Marin (Julio) and Jacob Lonnee; sisters: Ruth Weinbender, Dorothy Nerenhausen and Melita (Rex) Heidmann; nieces, nephews and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents: Emma and Rudolf; his daughter: Heather Lonnee; brothers-in-law: Al Weinbender and Gerald Nerenhausen; mother-in-law Cora Quimby

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer is assisting the family.
