Ralph E. Butterfield

Ralph E. Butterfield, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Bloomer, WI.

Ralph was born on May 15, 1937, to William and Alice (Kjellesvik) Butterfield in Nettle Creek, Ill. At the age of 6, Ralph and the family moved up north and graduated from New Auburn with the Class of 1955. Ralph married the love of his life, Carol Porter on July 5, 1958. He had a dairy farm for many years and enjoyed working the land. He believed in serving the people and doing the right thing, which led him to serving on the town board of Sampson and Citizen Connected Telephone Company in New Auburn. Ralph enjoyed golfing, playing ball, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Brewers or Packers.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 67 years: Carol Butterfield; children: Steven (Kim) Butterfield, Joseph Butterfield and Rebecca (Rhon) Omtvedt; eight grandchildren: Angela (Doug) Rohrssen, Kelly Pollock, Kerry Rauscher, Bridgett Butterfield, Samantha (Mike) King, Samantha Jo (Jeff) Korn, Katelyn (Preston) Jenneman and Rachel Omtvedt; 12 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Alice Butterfield; brothers: Bill, Ray, Jack, Robert and Roger Butterfield; and sisters: Shirley Stanford, Mary Snodgrass, Ella Waterhouse, Lois Fedie and Audrey Biery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the White Pine Pavilion in Bloomer, with a short service starting at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date.
