Paul was born on April 6, 1935 at the Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Wauwatosa, WI to Ruth Ziegler. Before graduating from high school he entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class from 1952-1956. After leaving the Navy he returned to the Portage, WI area where he had grown up. It was there he was introduced to Jesus and his life was transformed. He also met Junette Anderson and in 1957 they were married. Paul and Junette owned a Dairy Queen in Madison with Junette’s sister Ardyce and her husband Rev. Norman Peterson Jr. until Paul felt the Lord calling him to return to school. With the help and support of UW- Eau Claire, Paul completed his GED and graduated with a teaching degree in math and science while raising 3 small children and working several part-time jobs. After graduating and adding one more child to their family, Paul began teaching for the Eau Claire School District at North Junior High School and later DeLong Junior High School, finally retiring after 27 years as a math and science teacher. Following his retirement he founded several businesses. He built log furniture, made birch bark and other woodworking novelties and developed a math curriculum for home schoolers. Paul served as an elder and deacon for several church congregations, served on the Township of Cleveland board, taught log home building classes for Chippewa Valley Technical College and built a number of homes, including a log house that was their primary residence for over 25 years. He also was instrumental in building the New Life Alliance log church in Cornell. Paul enjoyed sharing stories of his life with his students, family and friends. He was a man of faith, integrity and honesty.
