Patrick H. Ludwigson, age 89, formerly of Bloomer, passed away at his home in
Montello on Saturday, March 16, 2019. He was born on June 12, 1929 in Colfax WI. He married Joan L. Ludwigson, on February 25, 1950 in Bloomer, WI. He has now been reunited with his loving wife, Joan, who has been waiting for him for nearly 12 years. Pat was a tool and die maker in La Crosse and Racine until retiring.
Pat enjoyed sharing his love of singing and playing the autoharp at church, at nursing homes
and the senior center; nearly everywhere he went. Pat was very involved in the community of Bloomer. He delivered meals on wheels to local residents and neighbors for years as well as involvement with the Senior Center and being an active member of his church. Pat had a love of tinkering and repairing things, keeping himself busy both before and after he retired. If he didn’t know how something worked, he took it apart and figured it out.
He loved motorcycles, taking several cross-country trips with his sons. He loved taking rides all over the countryside looking at vehicles, old and new. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The one thing he loved most was spending time with his cat “Ethyel” whom he called his Norwegian Retriever!
For the past seven years, Pat travelled with his five daughters into northern Minnesota to spend
a week at a lovely cabin on a lake. He loved to spend time with “his girls,” enjoying their
laughter and cooking and watching them fish and frolic in the lake. In the fall of each year, he
would join his sons while they went deer hunting at his eldest son’s hunting cabin.
During his long, full life, Pat made many friends. He enjoyed meeting several of these friends in Bloomer at the Hardee's for breakfast every morning except Sundays. Pat loved certain foods – not
only biscuits and gravy, but pork steak smothered in mushroom gravy along with
creamed carrots, fish balls and, of course, mayonnaise cake with fluffy white frosting on his
birthdays. His sense of humor and love for all will be forever missed. Always remember, “What the Dickens!”
Pat is survived and will be missed dearly, by his three sons: John (Cindi), Thomas (Sandy), and Kris Ludwigson, and his five daughters: Valerie Porreca, SuAnn (Randy) Hayter, Marina Ludwigson, Kari Colvin, and Lori (Eric) Strande; sisters: Nancy (Dan) Goller, Ruth Boese, and Jean Meyer; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Valborg; wife: Joan; brothers: Harry, LaVerne,
Harold and Norbert Ludwigson; sister: Doris Hasse; brothers-in-law: Urs Meyer and Harold Boese; son-in-law: Robert Porreca; grandson: Adam Ludwigson and infant grandchildren: Patrick Colvin and Tanisha Porreca.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Agrace Hospice and Dr. Brenda Blohm, Divine Savior, for their care and compassion when caring for Pat.
Funeral services will be held on May 11, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bloomer with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com
