Orwin H. Sparby, age 93, passed away at Dove Health Care in Bloomer on February 2, 2022. He was born on December 1, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Oscar and Evelyn (Hanson) Sparby. He married Gertrude Paulson on February 24, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. Orwin worked as a dairy farmer for the first part of his life. He then worked as the maintenance man at Dallas Care and Rehab for 20 years until he retired at age of 80. He was a man of strong faith and loved to express it through singing. He was a gifted woodworker, building everything from birdhouses to furniture. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children: Paul Sparby of New Hope MN and Beth Sparby of Rochester MN; grandchildren: Naomi (Jeremiah) Jones, Rachel Demsky, Sarah Demsky, Jacob Demsky, Anna Demsky; sisters: Renetta Kidder and Judy (Dave) Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Oscar and Evelyn Sparby; his wife: Gertrude; sisters: Elaine Toycen and Dorean Arneson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Running Valley with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery. Due to Lack of cellular service, the service will not be live streamed, but will be posted later this afternoon.
