Obituary for Natalie LaVonne "LaVonne" Davis (Melby)



Natalie “LaVonne” Davis, Age 77, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 25, 1931 in Westby, Wisconsin to Maurice & Petra (Lovstad) Melby. She married Gerald Davis on February 23, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in La Crosse, Wisconsin. LaVonne was busy at home raising her family and tutoring school children. She was on the Bloomer Hospital Board for 19 years, the Bloomer Library Board for 10 years, she volunteered at the Bloomer Hospital earning the volunteer of the year award, she sang with “The Combinations” and with “The Resurrection Singers” and was an active member of the GFWC Bloomer Women’s Club. She enjoyed singing, doing arts & crafts, calligraphy and rosemaling, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter: Laurel “Laurie” (Eugene) Buchner of New Auburn; three sons: Michael Davis of Heber Springs AR, Patrick (Marcia) Davis of Cabot AR & Tom (Carol) Davis of Hudson; one brother: Evan Melby of Oxnard CA; one sister: Phyllis (Owen) Evans of Racine WI; 8 grandchildren- Jennifer (Rex) Spicer, Ann (Patrick) Rufledt, Josh Davis, Cory (Gina) Davis, Mark Buchner, Nicole (Corey) Tounzen, Alexandra Davis and Trevor Davis; & 8 great-grandchildren: Grant, Holly and Violet Spicer; Mason, Cashton and Kayetlyn Davis; and Paige and Sydney Rufledt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Arlonne Melby and Jo Anne Fremstad; twin siblings at childbirth; grandson: Nathan Davis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father James Arthur officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the South Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 �" 8:00 on Thursday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:30.
