Nancy Lou Hyland

Nancy Lou Hyland, age 78, passed away at Harvest Home in Racine on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

She was born on December 17, 1945 in Cornell, Wisconsin to John and Mildred (Smith) Ellis.  She married her longtime sweetheart LaWayne “Wayne” Hyland in 1962. In their early marriage they moved to Louisiana and Texas during Wayne’s service time in the Navy. They then settled in Sturtevant,  WI where Nancy was a stay at home Mom raising their three children and enjoying her hobbies and time with family. After retirement, Nancy and Wayne lived in Arkansas before moving back to Bloomer, WI to be near family. Nancy’s hands were always busy; quilting, knitting, embroidery, crocheting and adult coloring.  She had a strong faith and enjoyed baking, reading, journaling and writing letters to her family and friends.  She loved tending to her houseplants, gardening and her dachshunds, Charlie and Zoey. After Wayne passed away in 2021 Nancy moved to Racine to be near her children.  The most important thing to Nancy was her family and she will be missed by all who knew her.    

She is survived by her children: Rick Hyland of Winneconne WI,  Timothy (Lisa) Hyland of Racine, WI, MaryBeth (Richard) Obuchowski of Racine, WI; brother: Charlie (Gloria) Ellis of Winter, WI; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mildred; husband: Wayne, grandson: Landon Hyland, sisters: Dorothy Beighley, Jane Hurlburt, Helen Zaruba, Patricia Ruegger; brothers: Harold Smith, John Ellis, Richard Ellis, William Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Tuesday June 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
