Obituary for Murville Jack "Jack" Kuhn

Murville "Jack" Kuhn was born on Dec. 18, 1924, in Knapp, Wis. He died Nov. 9, 2009, in Bloomer. He was the son of Murville and Mildred (James) Kuhn.
He attended Knapp Elementary School and graduated from Menomonie High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a radioman on the USS Mifflin from 1943 until 1946. He was a telegrapher and depot agent for Chicago & North Western Railroad for 36 years until his retirement in 1985.
He married Lucille Evelyn Genrich on Oct. 25, 1947, in Chippewa Falls.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed growing beautiful gardens and sharing his produce. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He was a self-taught builder, mechanic, electrician, cabinetmaker, plumber, stonemason, dog trainer, taxidermist and boat builder. He was even known to sew a granddaughter's nightgown, and his Christmas fudge was perfection. Jack was an avid reader, and always remained current on world events. He could discuss and advise on any topic.
Jack was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He was respected and adored by his loving family and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucy; three daughters, Terry (Dennis) Swartz, Jackie (Tom) Ewings and Janie (Bob) Jacobson, all of Bloomer; two sons, Thomas (Theresa) Kuhn of Eau Claire and Timothy (Lori Clark) Kuhn of Bloomer; three brothers, Billy (Mae) Kuhn of Knapp, James (Jean) Kuhn of Minnesota and Michael (Shirley) Kuhn of Knapp; one sister, Mary Lou Hotchkiss, of Menomonie; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Nicholas Hotchkiss.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 Jackson St., Bloomer, with the Rev. Robert Hannemann officiating. Inurnment will be in Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery, Spooner.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Olson Funeral Home, 1516 Larson St., Bloomer, and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
