Mervin G. Marquardt

Mervin G. Marquardt, age 99, passed away April 18, 2024, at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living in Altoona, Wisconsin. He was born on October 19, 1924, in Bloomer, Wisconsin to Gustav and Bertha (Dietert) Marquardt.  He married Ruth (Klund) Berg on October 1, 1977, in Bloomer.   He and his brother, Richard, owned and operated Duncan Creek Registered Holstein Dairy Farm.  He served on the Bloomer City Council, was active in the 4-H,  and showed and judged cows at the  Chippewa County Fair.  He enjoyed playing basketball, fishing, woodworking, hunting, dancing, bowling and playing softball as a member of the “Old Pros”.

He is survived by stepsons:  Kevin (Sharon) Berg of Big Lake AK, Gary (Lois) Berg of Blackhawk CA, Kyle (Linda) Berg of Lake Hallie WI; stepdaughters:  Claudia (Terry) Culp of Henderson NV and Kristle (Mike) Lotzer of Wasilla AK;  son in-law: Curt Goettl; sister in-law: Emogene Marquardt;  4 generations of step-grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents:  Gustav and Bertha Marquardt; wife: Ruth; step-daughter: Kathy Goettl; sister:  Muriel Marquardt; brothers:  Alvin, Walter, and Richard Marquardt. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer located at 1403 Newman Street, with a visitation from 10:00 – 11:30 at the church before the service.
