Obituary for Merle Ione "Cricket" Bauer (Jackson)

Merle "Cricket" Bauer, 95, New Auburn, Wisconsin, died on December 13, 2014, at home with her family. Merle was born at the family farm in the Town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County, to Edgar and Emma (Saugen) Jackson on July 29, 1919. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1936 and married Walter "Bud" Bauer in Eau Claire in 1938. Cricket and Bud owned Bauer's Grocery on London Road in Eau Claire for 20 years, retiring to Chain Lake near New Auburn.

Merle is survived by three daughters, Jeanne (James - deceased) Riley of New Auburn, Barbara (James) Onarheim of Hayward, Judith (John) Stanford of New Auburn; six grandchildren, Greg Riley, Dale Riley, Jeff Devine, Cindy Devine (Mark Wendt), John Stanford (Yayla Kaplan) and Peter Stanford (Paula); one great-grandchild, Sierra Jade Stanford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three sisters. Olson Funeral Home of Bloomer will assist the family with a private service and interment at Rest Haven Gardens in Eau Claire.
