Mary M. Mittelsteadt-Ziebell, 79, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012. Her long and courageous fight made her a hero in our eyes. Mary was born in Shullsburg, Wis., and moved to Rockford in 1951. She worked at Sundstrand for more than 20 years. Mary married Alfred Ziebell on June 5, 1954. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Alfred of Roscoe; daughters, Tammy (Joseph) Reiss of Chicago and Terry (Scott) Furman of Belvidere; grandchildren, Amber (Jared) Haerterich and Seth Furman; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Adyson; brothers and sisters, Geraldine Kissinger of Phoenix, Marjorie Green of Machesney Park, LaVern (Betty) Mittelsteadt of Freeport, Albert (Janet) Mittelsteadt of Warren, Charlotte Rous of Loves Park, and Robert (Jackie) Mittelsteadt of Davis Junction; and many other relatives and friends including her endeared nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Predeceased by parents, William and Florence Mittelsteadt and brothers, Melvin, Charles, Gordon and Francis. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and all the other medical staff for their care and compassion. There will be a small grave site service at 2:00 p.m. in Bloomer Cemetery on November 10th, 2012. Immediately after the service, there will be a gathering at Harm’s Way in Bloomer for cake and coffee.
