Obituary for Mary Helen Daken (Piotrowski)

Mary H. Daken, age 73, passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eau Claire. She was born February 1, 1935 in Casper, Wyoming, to Frank & Jewel (Hutchinson) Piotrowski. She married Edward Daken on February 24, 1954 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer. She and her husband then settled down on the family farm in Bloomer. Mary was an excellent cook, cake decorator and baker, especially her homemade bread the grandchildren always took home. She enjoyed gardening, had a great sense of humor and treated everyone like family. She was a devoted wife and mother, and truly enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband Edward of Bloomer; four daughters: Susan (Tom) Toutant of Cornell, Nancy (Al) Calhoun of Bloomer, Lisa (Rod) Plenge of Bangor, Debbie Van Sleet of Chippewa Falls; four sons: John Daken, Donald Daken, Steven (Renee) Daken, all of Bloomer & Michael (Rita Foiles) Daken of Cadott; ten grandchildren: Nick (Erica) Daken, Jessica & Jennifer Toutant, Joe & Chad Calhoun, Shane (Joanie) Foiles, Jeff & Kayla Daken, Alex & Seth Plenge; four great-grandchildren: Tyler Toutant, Hanna Schulz, Tristin & Drake Daken; two brothers: Francis "Mick" (Sue) Piotrowski of Sand Creek & Johnny "Louie" (LaGatha) McBrown of Shelton WA; one sister: Margaret Engel of Stephanson MI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: John.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1:00 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with David W. Olson officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the North Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 on Sunday and up to the time of service on Monday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer (715) 568-5250.
