Obituary for Marlene R. Carlson (McDonald)

Marlene R. Carlson, age 81. Passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer. She was born September 4, 1933 in Bruce WI to Floyd “Corky” and Estelle (Paradise) McDonald. She married Dorlan “Duzzy” Carlson on February 20, 1952 in River Falls WI. Marlene worked as a custodian at the Bloomer Elementary School for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, thrift sailing and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband: Duzzy of Bloomer; sons: Timothy (Debra) Carlson, Randy (Mary) Carlson and David (Elaine) Carlson, all of Eau Claire WI; daughter: Penny (Mike) West of Tilden; brothers: Allen (Laurie) McDonald of Rio WI, Barry (Pat) McDonald of Dallas TX and Tom McDonald of Chetek; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd “Corky” and Estelle McDonald.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Pastor Martin Halom officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Friday. There will be no visitation Thursday evening. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John’s Lutheran Church
