Marie A. McElroy (Custer)

Marie A. McElroy, age 88, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Eagleton Residential Care. She was born January 14, 1926 in the Town of Wheaton, Chippewa County to Vincent and Frieda (Buetzer) Custer. She was a 1943 graduate of Chippewa High School and married James McElroy on October 25, 1944 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Dairy Farming was Marie’s passion. She and her husband, Jim, farmed in the Eagle Point area most of their lives. She enjoyed reading, taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren and dog, Shorty.

She is survived by her sons: Russell (Marianne) McElroy of Chippewa Falls, Paul (Linda) McElroy of Cornell and Dale McElroy of Bloomer; grandsons: Matt (Monica) McElroy of Madison and Mark (Krista) McElroy of Bloomer; great-grandchildren: James and Kendra; Sister: Elizabeth Morning of Chippewa Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Vincent and Frieda; her husband : Jim in 2006; brothers: Ernest, Victor, Harold and Edwin Custer; sister: Margaret Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Bloomer. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 on Thursday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
