Margueritte E. Werner

March 10, 1925 — May 19, 2022

Margueritte E. Werner (Jennings), age 97, passed away May 19, 2022, at Grace Edgewood in Altoona, Wisconsin. She was born March 10, 1925, in South Bend, Indiana to Herbert and Loretta (Colburn) Jennings. Margueritte graduated from Bloomer High School, at the age of seventeen, in 1942. With World War II in progress, she joined the United States Army and attended nursing school in Madison, Wisconsin. She worked as an army nurse until the war ended in 1945.

On December 24, 1945, Margueritte and Max Werner were wed in Hopewell, Virginia. The couple moved to Bloomer, Wisconsin. The marriage brought forth two children: Jeff and Pamela. Max was the owner and operator of the Bloomer Hardware store.

Margueritte was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Max. Survivors include her son Jeff, her daughter Pamela (Dan Cavanaugh), four grandchildren: Samuel Werner (Mara), Kathryn Hanson, Tracey Cowley (Dave), Stephanie Moerke (Ben), and eleven great grandchildren.

Margueritte’s life revolved around the love for her family. Her children were always encouraged to seek an education. Jeff became a high school teacher and later a real estate appraiser; Pamela was a medical assistant.

Margueritte cared for those who were less fortunate. She was always donating food and clothing for those in need – exhibiting the teachings of Christ – “I was hungry, and you fed me, I was naked, and you clothed me.” Margueritte was caregiver for her husband Max during the last years of his life. A soft heart for stray animals led many to be fed and watered on Margueritte’s back porch. Some were known to be housed inside the house on cold winter nights and many even adopted as pets.
