Obituary for Malcolm "Mac" Robey

Malcolm “Mac” Robey, age 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 7, 2014. He was born on September 23, 1932 in Cornell to Clifford and Clara (Riley) Robey. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and then worked as a machinist at Sun Strand in Rockford IL. He and his brother Duane owned Robey’s Sunny Bay Resort in Chetek and then the New Auburn Lumber Yard. For many years he also owned and operated Mac Robey and Son Construction in New Auburn. Mac married Lucille Stertz on July 22, 1952 and then Rhea Clark on October 2, 1999. Mac was a hard worker and he loved having a good time. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting trap, camping, traveling to Canada and Alaska, NASCAR, and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the New Auburn American Legion and Bethel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife: Rhea; son: Jeff Robey of New Auburn; daughter: Kelli (Tim) Lotts of New Auburn; step-children: Jacob Clark of New Auburn and Lisa (Brian) Heidtke of Chippewa Falls; brothers: Francis “Sonny” (Rhodora) Robey of Bloomer and Duane (Alberta) Robey of New Auburn; sisters: RuthAnn (George) Lund of New Auburn and Myrna (Richard) Ferris of Holcombe ; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; numerous, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Clara; first wife: Lucille; granddaughter: Meagan Robey

Funeral Services will be held at St. Judes Church in New Auburn on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Melinda Halom officiating. There will be a visitation held from 4:00-7:00 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in the New Auburn Cemetery following the service with the New Auburn American Legion performing military honors.
