Obituary for Lyle Allen Moyer

Lyle Allen Moyer, age 78, of Colfax passed away at his home on Friday, April 25, 2014. He was born May 20, 1935 in Trout Creek, Town of Grant, Dunn County the son of Robbie and Evelyn (Severson) Moyer. He married the young lady of his dreams, Margaret Denison, on September 10, 1960 in Birchwood, WI. Lyle attended Trout Creek grade school and graduated from Colfax High School. He was also a student at Milwaukee School of Real Estate Law. He volunteered for the US Army on June 6, 1957 and served in active duty until March 5, 1959. He was transferred to inactive reserves and honorably discharged on June 30, 1959. During his time in the service he took advanced scout training and was stationed at Baumholder, Germany. He was an Armor Intelligence Specialist and CBR Control Monitor while living out of an attic at the French Camp. He purchased the Sunny Side Dairy Farm in Dunn County in 1960. Here he served as Deputy Zoning Administrator and Assessor for the Town of Grant and assessor for the Town of Colfax. He did abstracting and appraising and worked for Muza Law Firm and Insured Title and Abstract Company for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping and was a member of the Bloomer Rod and Gun Club for over 50 years.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife: Margaret of Colfax; three children: Gregory A. Moyer of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, Elizabeth A. (Douglas) Degler of Ham Lake MN and Thomas P. Moyer of Colfax; one sister: Irene (Karl) Wulle of Colfax ; eight grandchildren: Jocelyn, Robert, Nicole and Shelby Moyer, Autumn, Dyllon and Dalton Degler, Jackson Moyer; four great-grandchildren: Skylar, Gage, Rian and Afton.

Funeral services will be held at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a visitation one hour prior to services, on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Military rites will be performed by the Bloomer VFW and American Legion. Refreshments will be at the Main Street Café in Bloomer following the service. Interment will be a private family service at a later date.
