Lucy Hughes

Lucy E. Hughes, age 82, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 30, 1927 in Tilden to Henry & Eleanor (Bowe) Blum. She married Harold A. Hughes on November 18, 1947 in Barron. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed quilting, making lefsa, playing scrabble, gardening, reading, bowling, going to the cabin and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons: Thomas Hughes of Menomonie, Donald (Kristine) Hughes of Chippewa Falls and Rodney (Lynn) Hughes of Green Bay WI; three daughters: Suszanne (Ronald) Dodge of Dallas WI, Judith (Norman) Schindler of Sand Creek & Mary Beth (Keith) Hutchinson of Chippewa Falls; one brother: Robert (Shirley) Blum of Marble MN; four sisters: Marie (Sid) Etlicher of Bloomer, Jeanette (Robert) Thompson of Chippewa Falls, Edna Riewer of Ankey IA & Betty (Joe) Hessel of Fairbault MN; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Harold; three brothers: Daniel, Arnie & Vernon Blum

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father James Arthur officiating. Interment will be in the North Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer where there will be a Rosary service at 4:30 PM and a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM.
