Lorrell A. “Lou” Kressin, age 78. passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer. He was born on August 8, 1935 in Bloomer to Fred and Cecelia (Peil) Kressin. He was a 1953 graduate of Bloomer High School and continued his education with the Farmer’s Short Course at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1972, he received his Associate’s Degree at the Northwestern Electronics Institute in Colombia Heights MN. He married Jeanne Fobear on June 24, 1972 in Duluth MN. He served as an Air Force pilot during the Viet Nam war and then joined the Minnesota National Guard. He worked as a dairy farmer and was a member of the Bloomer Baptist Church, the Bloomer American Legion, the Bloomer VFW and MOAA (Military Officers Association of America). Lou was a fan of aviation, enjoyed farming and could be found tinkering around or fixing things in his shop. He enjoyed a “civilized” cup of coffee at McDonalds and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Jeanne of Bloomer; two children: Ann Marie Kressin of Roseville MN and Jon (Fiancée: Courtney Schuman) Kressin of Oshkosh; two brothers: Richard (Mickey) Kressin of Bloomer and Raymond Kressin of Waunakee WI; two sisters: Patricia (Glen) Ahlswede of Eagle River and Marjorie (James) Henry of New Berlin; goddaughters and nieces: Nina Bussa, Victoria Buckman, Kassandra Roach, Jessica Anderson, Nicki Roeder and Rhonda Eppers; nephews: Rick and Curt Kressin, Andy, Brad, Chuck and Chris Fobear, Bob and Jeff Henry; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Cecelia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Bloomer Baptist Church with Pastor Eldon Carlson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the church. There will be no visitation Friday evening.
