Obituary for Lila F. Weir

Lila Fay Weir (Knowlton), age 90, passed away on Friday Jan 21, 2011at her daughter's home in Bloomer. She was born Aug 8, 1920 in Cornell, WI to Dean and Hazel (Young) Knowlton. She married Otis Weir on May 19, 1938 in Stanley, WI. Lila and her husband took over the Weir family farm north of Boyd. She took wallpapering jobs, raised and sold vegetables, and sold McNess products. She was a waitress at the Badger Inn before she started working at the Chippewa County Hospital from l965-1980. Lila also served on the school board for East Riverside School.


Lila loved the Lord and was a trusted prayer warrior for all. Her Bible was her constant companion. She was a Bible School teacher and served on many church functions and activities. She enjoyed singing, writing & listening to music and reading, especially the Bible. Whatever mom did she did with all her heart. - from Crepe Paper Roses to making dog houses. She loved to help people any way she could and could strike up a conversation with just about anybody. She loved her family and spent countless hours enjoying their company, leaving them a great legacy that we must strive to carry on. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren, her main goal being that her family would all be in God's Kingdom.

She was such a blessing to all who knew her. We are so thankful for the wonderful mom and grandma the Lord blessed us with. She will be greatly missed and we will treasure our memories of her forever.


She was preceded in death by her husband: Otis; son: Daryol; grandchildren: Jerry Weir, Loren Weir and Gayle Weir-Heineman; Great-Grandson: Izekial Weir-Heineman; parents: Dean and Hazel (Young) Knowlton; siblings: Robert, James, Walter, and Richard Knowlton, Vera (Earnest) Audorff and Myra (Roger) Semanko.

She is survived by three children: Gary Weir of Boyd, Joyce (Cliff) Wilfong of Bloomer and Betty Weir of Spooner; grandchildren: Leonard Weir, Nathan (Colleen) Weir, Jennifer (David) Babbitt, Gary (Margo) Wilfong, Alisha (Jonathan) Wendlandt, Crystal, Isaac (Nikki) and Israel (Robin)Weir-Heineman; great-grandchildren: Heather Weir, Michael and Daniel Babbitt, Lacy, Evan, Lila Weir-Heineman, plus two great grandbabies on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Bloomer Baptist Church in Bloomer, WI. Friends and family may call from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday January 29, 2011 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, WI and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
