Leslie L “Les” Nelson, age 75, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Dallas Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in the town of Big Bend on November 1, 1941 to Austin and Mary (Silvernail) Nelson. He married his first love, Kathryn Rudoll on September 30, 1961 in Chetek WI. Les worked as a farmer and was a bus driver for the New Auburn School District for many years. He was a member of the New Auburn United Methodist Church, serving on several committees, an officer in the FFA Alumni for many years and served on the Dovre Town Board. Les believed that hard work never hurt anybody. He loved being a farmer, taking care of God’s land and making lots of friends driving bus. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved taking trips with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Kathryn of New Auburn; children: Timothy (Renea) Nelson of New Auburn, Wendy (boyfriend: Steve) Nelson of Eau Claire; brother: Richard (Jennifer) Nelson of Chetek; step-sister: Lynn (Dennis) Trowbridge of Rockford IL; step-brother: Lee Nelson of Kansas City MO; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Austin and Mary; step-mother: Nona Nelson; brother & sister-in-law: George and Dona Nelson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude’s Church in New Auburn with Pastor Gary Benzschawel of the United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 on Sunday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
