Obituary for Leona Siverling

Leona Siverling, age 97, passed away Monday, February 08, 2010 at the Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer. Leona was born on November 9, 1912 to Jacob and Mary (Fashingbauer) Hepfler in Bloomer. She was the last living member of the Bloomer High School graduating class of 1931 and married the love of her life Albert Siverling at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer on October 15, 1935. She worked most of her life on the farm, but also was a cook at the Knotty Pine, worked at the canning factory, in the hospital kitchen and then volunteered at Hetzel’s Care Center for many years after she retired. She was an avid reader and also liked to garden, fish, knit, crochet, play bingo and spend time with family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter: Victoria Oldenberg of Bloomer, two sons: Fred (Phyllis) Siverling and Steve (Kim) Siverling both of Bloomer; two sisters: Edith Siverling of Ladysmith, Alyda Krejci of Chippewa Falls; one brother: Lee Hepfler of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren: Kristi (Jay) Richardson, Amy (Travis) Bowe, Lisa (Alan) Fregine, Nicole (Ben) Moline, Laura (Jake) Jonker, Jared (fiancé, Vanessa Klemish) Siverling, Sarah Siverling , Emilie Siverling, and Bryce Siverling, eight great-grandchildren: Jacob and Jason Richardson, Matthew and Shelby Bowe, Auston Coss, Abbie Fregine, Morgan and Dominic Moline, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband: Albert; three sisters: Rose Ruff, Esther Samens, Mona Bekken; one brother Ralph Hepfler.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday February 12, 2010 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father James Arthur Officiating. Interment will follow the service at the North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday February, 11 2010, at the Olson Funeral Home, with a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 PM. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Rose Garden and Hetzel Care Center for the years of loving care they gave to Leona.
