Leona H. Kressin, age 87, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Bloomer Hospital. She was born September 15, 1925 in the Town of Auburn to Connie and Magnhild (Evenson) Cronin. She married Norbert Kressin on June 14, 1959 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Leona candled eggs for a living and also worked at the Farmer’s Store from 1947 – 1960. Leona became a stay-at-home mom, raising her three children and babysitting for numerous Bloomer children. She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer. She was an excellent cook and baker but her greatest joy was caring for her family. Heaven’s angels sang a little louder when they welcomed Leona into the Savior’s arms. Leona had a love for children and could cuddle and sing any child to sleep. She will always be known as “Noni”. Over the last few years we saw her health slowly change, but she never complained and held strong to her faith. She always had open arms to family and friends, and you left feeling better than when you walked in because of her complimentary manner. One of the true life lessons she taught us all was to take everything to the Lord in prayer.
She is survived by two sons: Kyle (Claudia) Kressin of Colfax and Kevin (Cindy) Kressin of Bloomer; one daughter: Karla (Ron) Yakesh of Bloomer; one brother: Ronald (Leanne) Cronin of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren: Christian, Jesse and Kayley Kressin, Nick (Hannah) Kressin, Mary (Kevin) Arbuckle and Laura (Matt) Klukas, Chris and Anna Yakesh; one great-grandson: Archer Kressin; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Connie and Magnhild; her husband: Norbert; two brothers: Dalyn and Merlin Cronin; one infant sister: Olga Constance Cronin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Pastor James Strand officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
