Lee Herbert Albrecht, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie WI. He was born May 3, 1929 in Chippewa Falls, the son of William and Olga (Krenz) Albrecht. Lee attended school in Bloomer and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1947. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until December of 1969. While a member of the USAF he also attended the University of Nebraska, Omaha, graduating in 1968. Lee was married to Betty Lightford Bishop on January 6, 1951 and had one son, Michael Keith Albrecht. They were later divorced. Lee married Shirley (Stiehm) Reed on October 19, 1957 in Orlando. He retired from the Air Force on December 31, 1969 and began a career in property management which he pursued in Los Angeles CA and Dallas TX. When Lee permanently retired, he and Shirley moved to Rockledge FL where they spent the next 21 years before returning to Bloomer in 2008. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Lee enjoyed traveling, photography, working with computers and visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley of Bloomer; step-daughter: Diana Bateman of Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Olga Albrecht; his son: Sgt Michael Albrecht; sisters: Lorraine Hensley and Vernice Hassemer; brother: Marvin Albrecht.
Services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Pastor Bob Otto officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW. Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 on Friday, June 21 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer.
