Lawrence McFarlane

Lawrence E. McFarlane, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Lake View Medical Center in Rice Lake. He was born March 17, 1924 in New Auburn to Orin and Saphronia (Calkins) McFarlane. He married Alice Ziebell on June 26, 1951 in Chetek. Lawrence served in the Army during WWII. He worked as a farmer and as a machinist at Presto. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, collecting guns, coffee clutching with his friends and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three sons: David (Susan) McFarlane of Griffin GA, Douglas (Rita) McFarlane of Chetek and Steven (Diane) McFarlane of Iron River WI; one daughter: Sandy (Greg) Harm of Rice Lake; one sister: Alvira Jensen of Chetek; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Alice; two brothers: Joseph and Lorenzo; one sister: Viola Rundle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:30PM at the Community of Christ Church located at 324 Douglas Street in Chetek. Lunch will be served after the services. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Monday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
