Karen A. Steinmetz, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2024, at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire. She was born on July 15, 1941, in New Auburn to Howard and Helen (Motzer) Holst. On June 14, 1958, Karen married Gordon Steinmetz. She loved making baby quilts, embroidering, sewing, shopping, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by her children: Patricia (Mark) Sauder of Chippewa Falls, Barbara (Larry) Schemenauer of Chippewa Falls, Peggy Nequette of Eau Claire, Helen Myers of Chippewa Falls, Mary (Gary) Miller of Chippewa Falls, Norma (Dave Lund) Steinmetz of Spooner, Paul (Vanessa) Steinmetz of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren: Emily (Alex) Lindau, Amanda (Chad) Valien, Heather (Eric) Warwick, Kat Nequette, Brandon (Mallory) Buckli, Nikita Franz, Crystal Franz, Tyler (Mikayla) Steinmetz, Kyla (Kyle) Mickelson, Hunter (Harley) Steinmetz, Emma Steinmetz, Amelia Panosh; 11 great grandchildren: Montana, Brandi, Ethan, Abby, Conner, Kaydence, Liliona, Luna, Reagan, Karysn and Mason; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Howard and Helen; her husband: Gordon; grandson: Dakota Steinmetz; brothers: Marvin and Merlin Holst; sister: Louise Frank; daughter in law: Theresa Steinmetz; son-in-law: John “Nick” Nequette.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery.
