Karen L. Ahlm, age 78, passed away on August 18, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Bloomer. She was born on November 1, 1946, at home in Bloomer, to Richard and Elizabeth “Mary” (Schwartz) Rubenzer. On July 13, 1974, Karen married Clarence “Skip” Ahlm. She worked with Clarence putting together parts for his son’s business ITW. Karen also helped out at Ruby’s Roadhouse and Main Street Café in the Pie Shop. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting afghans and morning coffee clutch with her friends.
Karen is survived by her brothers: Rodney (Elaine) Rubenzer, Jim (Judy) Rubenzer, Charlie (Lorraine) Rubenzer, Dan (Catherine) Rubenzer, David (Diane) Rubenzer and Jerry (Lennis) Rubenzer; sister: Judy (Mark) Dahl; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Mary Rubenzer; husband: Clarence Ahlm in 2001; and brother: Roger Rubenzer.
Graveside services will be at the Island Lake Cemetery, Rusk Co. at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The family would like to send a special thanks to Laurie Schneider and Jeannie Sarauer for all their help and care shown to Karen.
