Obituary for Josephine H. Armstrong

Josephine H. Armstrong passed away at the Maple Wood in Bloomer on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the age of 83. She was born to Rodger and Lulu Mae (Joseph) Smith on March 9, 1927, in Washington D.C. She worked as a nurse and anesthetist at the Bloomer Hospital for many years. Josephine was a seamstress, she loved to garden, and was a gifted artist, especially using water colors. She got her pilots license in 1972 and loved to fly her Cesena 150 out of the Barron Airport. Jo was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. If Josephine’s eyes were not on the sky they were on her beloved dogs.

She is Survived by her daughter: Margaret Hughes of Salem OR, granddaughters: Shawna (Tom) Hughes/Pugsley, Danielle & Christina Hughes.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Margaret Smith; grandsons: Jason and James Hughes

A memorial service will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 6:00 PM with a visitation from 5:00-6:00PM on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be directed to Habitat for Humanity in remembrance of Josephine.
