John J. Schwartz Jr.

John J. Schwartz, Jr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in his deer stand in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. He was born October 11, 1941 in Bloomer to John and Agnes (Zwiefelhofer) Schwartz. He married Vernetta Harings on December 2, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. John loved to work and always kept busy. Throughout his life he worked for General Motors, Coca Cola Co., RZ Transport, the City of Bloomer, Mayo Health Systems, the Bloomer School System and Chippewa Valley Mazda. He was a volunteer for the Bloomer Fire Department and made thousands of quarters of charcoal chicken with the crew. He enjoyed UTV riding, his “Garage”, woodworking, watching the Packers, driving tractor, welding, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Cindy (Joe) Poirier of New Auburn, Sandy (Joe) Adams of Tilden, Tammy (Dennis) Schemenauer of Bloomer, Pam (Kent) Schemenauer of Cornell, Barby (Todd) Warren of Bloomer and Mike (Heather) Schwartz of Bloomer; special friend: Donna Smith; brother: Jim (Bernice) Schwartz of Bloomer; sisters: Myrna Meinen of Chippewa Falls, Helen Berge of Bloomer and Linda (Wayne) Frank of Bloomer; sister-in-law: Jill Schwartz of Bloomer; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Vernetta; parents: John and Agnes Schwartz; siblings: Larry Schwartz, Kathleen Zwiefelhofer and infants: Donnie and Clara Schwartz; brothers-in-law: Robert Meinen, Ronnie Zwiefelhofer, Tom Bohl and Gerald Berge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. The wake will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Christian Wake service at 6:45 PM.
