Jerry W. Johnson, age 74, passed away at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire on April 17, 2024. He was born on October 5, 1949 in Beloit, WI to Hugo and Edna (Johnson) Johnson. He attended Clinton High School and graduated from UW- River Falls with a degree in Ag Education.  He married Beverly Bolen and later divorced.  After college he worked for CASE IH before purchasing his dairy farm in Bloomer in 1975.  Jerry milked cows until 1996 when he turned his focus to crop farming. In his later years, he did custom work for local farmers. He served on the board for the Town of Woodmohr for many years and was chairman for over a decade. Jerry could fix anything and was more than willing to share his knowledge. Jerry’s favorite place was working the fields behind the wheel of his equipment. He also played dart ball, showed livestock, and was active in the FFA and 4-H.   

 

He is survived by his daughters: Janelle (Dabrien) Murphy of Falls Church, VA, and Christine (Adam) Hady of Muscoda, WI; brother: Richard “Dick” (Renea) Johnson of Darlington, WI; brother in-law: Richard Peterson of New Haven, MO; grandchildren: Rigel Murphy and Emma, Ethan, Elsa, and Evan Hady; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hugo and Edna Johnson; and his sister: Nancy Peterson.  

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the Woodmohr Town Hall.  Olson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bloomer is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at olsonfuneralhomebloomer.com  

 

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations be made to a local 4H Group or FFA Chapter.
