Jerome J. Hurt, age 76, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 16, 2015. He was born May 14, 1939 in Chippewa County to Walter and Delphine (Spaeth) Hurt. He married Theresa Gindt on April 25, 1959 in Edson, Wisconsin. Jerome worked as a farmer and owned his own salvage/recycling business. He spent countless hours teaching his children the fine art of hunting and fishing. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing cards, collecting classic country music and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Theresa of Bloomer; sons: Dale Hurt of Colombia Falls, MT, Dean Hurt of Rice Lake, David (Robin) Hurt of Rice Lake and Brian (Tricia) Hurt of Cornell; daughter: Christine (Michael) Geffe of Eau Claire; son-in-law: Mark Lieberherr of Cameron; brothers: Jim (Rita) Hurt of Chippewa Falls, Wallace Hurt of Bloomer and John (Ramona) Hurt of New Auburn; sisters: Marion (Harold) Hunt of Chippewa Falls, Sylvia (Joe) Jennings of Spirit Lake, IA, Theresa (Danny) Duval of Barnes, WI and Valeria (Greg) Seidling of Bloomer;8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Delphine Hurt; daughters: infant Valerie and Noreen Lieberherr; grandson: Paul Hurt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father John Potaczek officiating. Interment will be at St. Catherine’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Wednesday at the Olson Funeral home in Bloomer where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM.
